Fire Wall Assemblies for Stucco

Mega Lath and Structalath Twin Trac Approved for Fire Wall Assemblies

Structa Wire Corp. approves the use of Structalath Twin Trac for rated fire wall assemblies as an alternate to laths specified as 2.5 pound metal lath, 1 ½ inch woven wire lath, or where unspecified metal lath is prescribed.

Structa Wire Corp. also approves the use of Structa Mega Lath for rated fire wall assemblies as an alternate to laths specified as 3.4 pound metal lath, or as an alternate to any of the above laths.

The attachment of the lath must be in accordance with the applicable wall assembly.

Comparative Fire Test

Structa Wire has tested its Structa Mega Lath on a comparative basis against 3.4 expanded metal lath in a fire test. The test was conducted by an approved laboratory under ASTM E-119.08a “Standard Methods for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials”, NFPA 251-2006 “Standard Methods of Tests of Fire Endurance of Building Construction and Materials”, and UL 263-2011 “Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials”.

The test was conducted for 3 hours. Structa Mega Lath was found to outperform the 3.4 expanded metal lath with lower heat transmission values and with no delamination of cladding from lath at end of test. Therefore, the Structa Mega Lath was found to be equal or better than 3.4 expanded metal lath in rated fire wall applications.
